Things of an oriental nature

We have a room in our house that we call “The Mezzanine”.

By definition (and sorry if you already know this) a mezzanine is a 1/2 floor, often with a vantage point whereby you can overlook another floor(s).

I chose the mez as the location in our house in which to deliver our baby this past February (I had an unattended homebirth).
This is what it looked like at that time:

Since then, I’ve toyed with how to decorate the room.
The walls were primed, but never actually painted.

I decided to decorate it in an oriental style.

The walls will be super pale pink, and I’ll be drawing branches with Cherry Blossoms.

Kinda like this.

The branches will be a greyish green, and blossoms will be a deep semi-gloss pinkish/red.

I have an Eastlake furniture suite that I stripped last year, and haven’t yet chosen a cover fabric for.

(If you’re not familiar with the style, it’s kinda like this … but ours is more angular)

I would like the fabrics to be dark, but gentle.
The blues were too rich, and with pink on the walls, reds are out of the question.
Hot pink just seemed totally inappropriate.

I felt that the pale green branches would tie in well with a green-based fabric …
and with all the wooden beams up in the mezzanine, green will definitely lend itself to an earthy vibe.
Green also ties well with the lighter kitchen walls.

Some other ideas:

for the window that overlooks the kitchen, we’re looking to make a screen that folds away, similar to the one below, but turned 90 degrees (so that it folds upwards, rather than to the side).
