Returning to the Raw

I went Raw at the end of April 2010.

It lasted about 2 months.

Then, the price of eating raw food got out of hand, we needed to consolodate our finances … so I had to stop.

Now it’s the end of the year, things are looking better as far as the bank balance goes, and my eating habits need an overhaul.

Where did I go ‘wrong’ before?
I’m not entirely sure.

I put an emphasis on calories from protein, and got those from nuts.
Raw nuts are not inexpensive … and almonds (the ‘best’ of the nuts, from what I’ve read) are usually steam-pasturised prior leaving the farm, so their true ‘rawness’ is immediately brought into question.

I also do not wish to be eating a large quantity of fruits/vegetables that are not indigenous to this region, as imported produce (whether it be overseas, or across the nation) are less environmentally friendly, and also tend to be picked prematurely in order to travel well.
Not only are the nutrients less favourable … but you end up paying over the odds for it.

So I thought that I’d do a bit of research on how to practically eat raw food in a cold climate, and these are the links that I found:

I rather like the idea of a warm, lemony, spicy water to start the day.

I’m going to also look into eating for necessary nutrients, as opposed to eating for the sake of it.
Only time will tell how this attempt goes.
