Another something that I’ve been interested along the above lines is taking a course/courses in nutrition.
Long weekend 1 of 3
I booked Thursday 11th and Friday 12th off work, so that I could tend to Eliza while Frank got caught up on his work around the house.
My checklist for those two days was as follows:
- Clean all globes on the entry chandeliers
- Create a faux leaded-glass effect on our front door
- Finish the upholstry on the entry suite
- Clean the drawing room chandelier
- Clear the kitchen
Another project for the to-do list
Chair Covers.
Oh – hang on. Let me back-track.

Our walls are painted solid colours. We didn’t buy wallpaper, because 1) we spent so much time taking the old wallpaper off 2) it’s SOOO expensive 3) if you do buy expensive wallpaper, it seems a shame to have to strip it off and replace it down the line 4) and even if you did decide to do that, I’m not too sure how wallpaper would strip off of drywall.
Soap-making
I crafted soap on my own this weekend, after a crash course by my dear friend Maria some weeks prior.
I used a mixture of canola and olive oils, essential oils from Hawaiian plants, grapefruit, lily, and eucalyptus, and crushed apricot seeds for exfoliant.

We have a room in our house that we call “The Mezzanine”.
By definition (and sorry if you already know this) a mezzanine is a 1/2 floor, often with a vantage point whereby you can overlook another floor(s).
I chose the mez as the location in our house in which to deliver our baby this past February (I had an unattended homebirth). Continue reading “Things of an oriental nature”
